James Scarlett, the owner of Scarlett Inc., has died in a single-engine plane crash.
James Scarlett, the owner of Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Scarlett Inc. has died in a single-engine plane crash as he was returning from the Wood Industry Conference in Florida.
WVLT8 TV in Knoxville, Tennessee is reporting that the FAA and NTSB will lead the investigation into the plane crash that occurred at around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 12.
While details of the crash are not known, bad weather was reported in the area at the time.
According to the company’s website, “James Scarlett was a highly accomplished business leader, entrepreneur, and adventurer who has significantly impacted the manufacturing industry.
“As one of the principles of Scarlett Inc., he has set out to build a team that is dedicated to providing new and creative solutions to customers while focusing on the overall customer experience. Scarlett’s passion for manufacturing began early in his career where he developed a keen understanding of process flow and machine-cutting solutions for non-ferrous applications.
“Through his leadership, Scarlett Inc. has become a leading provider of manufacturing equipment and knowledge to improve process flow. He was also a commercial pilot and experienced skier."
