There is still time to apply for the second round of WMCO’s digital transformation funding.
This is round two of what is a three-year program secured by WMCO in cooperation with the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).
This program, which was announced last October, is designed to help wood manufacturing members in Ontario make digital integration investments.
WMCO has been successful in securing funding for WMCO members and this is round two of 2 ½-year project that will fund 50 companies to support their digital integration projects.
WMCO President Mike Baker says this is an important program for the entire industry because it is the first time a government agency is working with and through a cluster in Canada “as they have recognized WMCO as a critical entity representing the value-added wood industry in Canada.”
WMCO is currently receiving applications from members for this second round that covers the period from April 1, 2024 to Feb 28, 2025.
Funding availability for this round is limited to 18 projects based on eligible expenses up to $100,000 at 45 per cent funding. Ineligible expenses need to be included to capture full project investment by industry.
Plans are being accepted on a first come-first served basis and have to be completed by March 18.
“There is very high demand,” Baker says, “and I have already had preliminary discussions with FedDev about the possibility of applying for additional funding.”
The final round next year – with room for 22 projects – will run from April 1, 2025 to Feb. 28, 2026.
