The CHB, in conjunction with NHLA, we will be hosting an English-language hardwood lumber grading short course (with a bilingual instructor) May 9-11, in Bolton, Ontario. Please note that space is limited to 20 people, so register early.
NHLA Canadian Inspector Simon Laroque will conduct the course. The theoretical portion of the course will be held at the Albion Bolton Community Centre, Bolton Ontario. The practical portion of the course will be held on the third day at Ontario Hardwood Products in Bolton. Instruction is geared towards production, warehouse staff, sales and office personnel, not necessarily to those directly involved in lumber grading.
The goal is to make your personnel "rules conscious," not professional graders. The course will cover such things as a basic introduction to hardwood lumber grading, a basic rules description, lumber characteristics, cutting unit method, general instructions, standard grades, grading practice, lumber rule, species exceptions, net/gross tally etc.
