Seven leading wood machinery manufacturers have spent the last four years working together as a team developing a common and standardized interface to connect all their woodworking machines, machine to machine, and machines to the customers' manufacturing execution systems.
Called izy, the new platform, which was jointly developed by BIESSE, BÜRKLE, HOMAG, IMA-SCHELLING, SCM, WEBER and WEINIG will be showcased at LIGNA in Hannover, Germany May 15-19.
The new standard interface enables machines from different manufacturers to be easily integrated and connected.
The common language has been developed in cooperation with UMATI (Universal Machine Technology Interface) bringing together machine builders and users thereby creating a community of industries and promoting universal standards across several sectors, including – with this project – that of woodworking.
The project has been named izy, inspired by universal languages, and will solve a communication problem in an easy and streamlined way.
At LIGNA, all seven member companies together with VDMA (the German Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers Association - who have supported and encouraged the project from its earlier stages - will provide details and information on woodworking made izy.
