The Interior Design Show recently marked its 14th edition at Metro Toronto Convention Centre with several hundred exhibitors showing unique products for home and business.

Canada’s largest contemporary design fair, which ran from Jan. 26-29, was a big success and attracted more than 50,000 visitors.

It began Thursday night with the traditional Opening Night Party, which was attended by 5,500, and continued Friday with Trade Day –reserved for members of the design trade, industry, students and media - that saw 10,000 visitors. That was followed Saturday and Sunday by general admission for the public and another 35,000 visitors.

IDS inspires, educates and exposes professionals and the general public to the latest in products, trends and designs both from a domestic and international perspective.

In addition to sold-out floor exhibits and varied programming, the event also featured numerous guest speakers, booth and design awards and a diverse group of designers, artists and style makers.

Hettich Canada launches ArciTech at IDS

Hettich Canada used IDS for the official Canadian launch of its new ArciTech drawer system. Introduced to the world at interzum last summer, the new ArciTech drawer system has been developed to give kitchen and furniture manufacturers the capability to create perfect drawers for different segments and every consumer need. Providing smooth running action, high stability and supporting heavy loads, ArciTech sets new standards.Claude de Lanauze, Hettich Canada’s manager for the kitchen and bath division, says ArciTech is an innovative new drawer system designed to meet the exacting demands placed on furniture in the premium segment.

ArciTech has been developed to help kitchen manufacturers prepare for the future with this new and broad product line-up based on a single platform.

Smooth and stable running action combined with high load capacity makes ArciTech the perfect solution for heavy and large front panels and easily accommodates increasingly popular larger drawers and the resulting higher load carrying capacity. ArciTech features runners in the three loading categories – 40, 60 and 80 kg – and always uses the same drill-hole pattern.

Hettich also showed its new line of ProDecor handles, which makes it easy for manufacturers and customers to individualize their furniture in accordance with the latest trends.

De Lanauze says solid growth in the kitchen segment and extensive market research has convinced Hettich to expand into the premium design market. The ProDecor line is aimed at design professionals and the premium market segment.

ProDecor is available in four styles, New Modern, Deluxe, Organic and Folk.
